Founder
Doug Powell is a Principal Consultant and owner of LeapInsights. Doug has over 20 years experience in solving complex organizational issues, bringing order from chaos and fostering innovation via consistent consumer insight and product development. Doug has been in the executive suite at Halo Smart labs, worked in consumer electronics, health can beauty, supply chain, healthcare and not-for-profit groups. He has been worked for some of the largest companies in the world and worked with and started 3 small companies. His passions are consumer experience development, innovation front-end, product development/execution and integration across the technical and business frameworks of a company.
Doug graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1993 with a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering and then in 1995 from the University of Missouri with an M.B.A.
Principal
With more than a decade of demonstrated experience, Carolyn Humphrey, Ph.D. has assisted a broad range of clients in the education, healthcare & financial arenas. Combining her background in counseling psychology and organizational development, her areas of expertise include leadership; executive coaching; and, the creation, facilitation and evaluation of leadership development programs.
Carolyn’s goal is to customize her approach to meet the specific needs of clients. In her coaching and assessment practice, she works to provide feedback based on an integrated analysis of interviews, observation and assessment batteries. She then partners with clients to create actionable plans that leverage strengths and address challenges. This process includes the identification of core competencies needed for success; role clarification; understanding of individual impact on groups; and, garnering real-world practice. Carolyn’s expertise in creating training programs focuses on research-based approaches to building self-awareness and developing skill sets that can be transferred beyond the training room and integrated into daily practice.
Carolyn is also a Principal with The Consulting Psychology Group and prior to LeapInsights was a Senior faculty member with The Fanning Institute for Leadership where she developed and led advanced leadership programs for such diverse groups as USDA, hospital networks and boards, bankers associations and institutes of higher education. She has also taught graduate and undergraduate courses at the Universities of Missouri, Utah and Georgia in psychology, assessment, management and personal development.
Carolyn completed a B.A. degree in Psychology and Anthropology at Emory University and a M.A. degree in Counseling Psychology at the University of Minnesota. She received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Organizational Development from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Post-doctoral work included a year-long clinical internship at the University of Utah in counseling, teaching and organizational consultation.
Carolyn stays actively involved in professional associations and is currently an Executive Board member for the American Psychological Association’s Society of Consulting Psychology and editor of their electronic newsletter. In addition she serves on the Advisory Board for the Elon Homes & Schools for Children in North Carolina.

Joe has over 40 years of banking experience and has held a number of management, executive and leadership positions throughout his career. He has directed small, medium and large teams in Global Product Management, International Operations, Treasury Services, Commercial Card Processing, human Resources and Items Process at several top 5 banks including First Union, Wachovia and Wells Fargo. Joe’s passion for quality and execution have made his teams highly sought after and drove him to the completion of a long, but gratifying career.
